As the SEO Strategist, you’d be responsible for the success of digital strategy for both our clients’ and the Evolve brand. This role plays a huge role in achieving our clients’ and our own brand goals & objectives. This position requires an experienced, passionate, results-driven, highly proactive, and naturally curious individual. You must be a critical thinker, problem solver and an awesome team player as well. You MUST have at least 3 years of experience in SEO and marketing strategy and tactics.


Job Description

The SEO Strategist is responsible for helping achieve our clients’ goals by working with the client to provide guidance and expertise and working with the internal marketing team as needed on execution of strategies, ultimately driving growth opportunities. This individual provides insight on how brands are experienced in the digital realm and how those digital interactions fit into the broader customer experience. The Strategist combines their knowledge of the client objectives and the competitive landscape with their knowledge and experience in the digital marketing industry and SEO strategies to provide effective recommendations and solutions. This person also handles day-to-day project operations, including research, strategy development, task creation and execution. This individual may also be responsible for client contact and organizing information shared by and with the client to be shared with the team internally, as needed. 


High-Level Responsibilities

  • Develops new and builds on existing SEO strategies that drive traffic and ROI for our clients
  • Executes projects to be high quality, on time and cost-effective/on budget
  • Assists with timeline development and monitors progress, ensuring deadlines are met
  • Helps manage project scope and communicates to Digital Marketing manager on necessary support/staffing
  • Works with and trains support team members to assist with strategy implementation
  • Works directly with clients/vendors and develops strong, trusting relationships
  • Manages client expectations, bringing issues/concerns to clients' attention before they become problems, offering potential solutions, and advising of any potential delivery delays
  • Assisting with workload and professional development of support team members
  • Works with Digital Marketing Manager to ensure team is aligned to client requirements
  • Proactively stays ahead of clients' marketing plans/goals, and provides relevant recommendations
  • Ensures accountability is established on client accounts
  • Works collaboratively with other Evolve team members to achieve client goals


SEO Responsibilities

  • Developing SEO strategies, oversee/handle daily management of SEO initiatives (being willing and able to perform any task from keyword research and content optimization to data analysis and technical implementation)
  • Performing keyword research & monitoring rankings
  • Identifying SEO/marketing goals and setting up proper goal/conversion/event tracking via Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager, as well as any testing/troubleshooting to ensure tracking is successful
  • Tracking and analyzing SEO metrics, creating reporting using various web analytics and SEO/marketing tools
  • Performing regular, on-going site audits to proactively provide recommendations for improvements/updates
  • On-page activities: Optimization of meta content, content body, headers, images, etc.
  • Off-page activities: Link building, Local Search
  • Researching blog post topics and writing blog posts and/or other content
  • Creating and analyzing monthly website traffic/SEO reporting
  • Stay up to date on marketing and SEO trends/developments/updates/issues, and be able to translate these findings to clients and/or internal team education
  • Be the resident expert on tools/technology used, and continually learning as new features are released (Ahrefs, SEMrush, Screaming Frog)

Website Responsibilities

  • Technical website reviews and troubleshooting
  • Making simple edits to websites via CMS
  • Populating content to websites vis CMS
  • Handling SEO strategy, research, writing meta data and content, 301 redirects in preparation of site launches
  • Setting up Google Analytics, Google Data Studios, Google Search Console, Google Tag Manager, etc.
  • Assisting with a variety of pre/post website launch tasks
  • Setting up and reviewing tracking tool data & creating reports/providing recommendations (CrazyEgg, Mouseflow, etc.)


Misc. Responsibilities

  • Working independently, managing multiple clients, projects, and deadlines simultaneously
  • Successfully managing and prioritizing daily list/workload
  • Creating and assisting with PPC, social media, email, and other marketing strategies as needed


Skills & Requirements

  • 3-5 years of proven work experience in developing & implementing SEO & marketing strategies
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or related field preferred
  • Superior communication skills, both internal and client-facing
  • Strong relationship management, attention to detail, organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to identify opportunities for growth and incremental opportunities with client partners
  • Awesome writing skills, demonstrated ability to write engaging, optimized content
  • Solid understanding of SEO principles and optimization variables (we only do white-hat SEO)
  • Proficient experience in SEO tools like SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, etc.
  • Solid understanding of web design and landing page best practices, and SEO/PPC implications
  • Solid knowledge and use of web analytics and online marketing tools (Google Analytics, Google Data Studio, etc.)
  • Solid knowledge of keyword research tools and best practices
  • Google Analytics certification
  • Solid math skills
  • Expert experience in Excel
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Basic knowledge of HTML and working within a content management system
  • Fast learner: Self-motivated and able to multi-task on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Team player with a positive attitude and great sense of humor

  • Deep technical SEO knowledge/experience (e-commerce optimization, HTML/CSS/JavaScript)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of social media, specifically related to SEO best practices
